The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Advertisement No. 09/2026 inviting online applications for the recruitment of Police Sub Inspector (General Closed Cadre) in the Special Branch, Home Department (Police Branch), Government of Bihar. A total of 150 vacancies have been announced. The recruitment process includes Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess:

Cut-off date for educational qualification: 01 August 2025.

Nationality

Age will be calculated as on 01 August 2025.

Additional age relaxation is available for government servants and ex-servicemen as per Bihar Government rules.

Physical Standards

Height

Chest (Male Only)

A minimum chest expansion of 5 cm is mandatory.

Weight

Female candidates must have a minimum weight of 48 kg.

Selected candidates will be appointed in:

Preliminary Examination Pattern

Candidates up to 10 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on merit. Normalization may be applied if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts.

Main Examination Pattern

Paper-I

• Duration: 3 Hours
• Type: Objective (MCQ)
• Negative Marking: 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Paper-II

• Duration: 1 Hour.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates shortlisted from the Main Examination will undergo Physical Standards and Physical Efficiency Tests. Candidates failing to meet the prescribed standards will be disqualified. No marks are awarded for the physical standards check itself.

Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared based on:

• Marks obtained in the Main Written Examination.
• Successful qualification in PET/PST.
• Reservation policy.
• Document verification and medical fitness.

In case of a tie, preference will be given to:

1. Older candidate.
2. Candidate with higher educational qualification.
3. Alphabetical order of name (Hindi), if required.
