India has a rich tradition of skilled artisans, craftsmen, and traditional workers who contribute significantly to the country’s cultural heritage and local economy. However, many of these artisans face challenges such as lack of modern tools, limited access to credit, inadequate training, and poor market linkages.
To address these issues, the Government of India launched the PM Vishwakarma Scheme on 17 September 2023 to support traditional artisans and craftspeople through skill development, financial assistance, modern tools, credit support, and digital empowerment.
For UPSC, MPSC, SSC, Banking, Railways, NABARD, and other competitive examinations, PM Vishwakarma is an important topic under Skill Development, MSMEs, Entrepreneurship, Traditional Occupations, and Government Welfare Schemes.
